Do recital performers have to be do re mi tutors?
No. You can bring your non-Do Re Mi friends to perform with you at a nursing homes! As a Community Outreach Coordinator, you must be signed up as a Do Re Mi tutor and have a tutoring webpage.
What kind of skills do I need to be a COC?
Basic organizational skills, effective communication (both in-person and through email), and willingness to perform music for others.
What is the application timeline?
For the February round of applications, you may be asked to interview with either the VP of Events or the Community Outreach Program Director. Coordinators who are accepted must attend an introductory Zoom meeting to understand the requirements of the role. COCs accepted during the February round should begin planning recitals for April and May promptly.
How can i involve my audience more in recitals?
"Spin the wheel," classical music trivia, and talking with senior residents after a performance are great ways to bond!
If I become a COC, DO I HAVE TO PERFORM in recitals too?
Technically, no. As a COC, your primary goal is to organize performances and update Do Re Mi with your outreach progress. However, COCs typically perform at nursing home recitals as well, especially if we are missing performers.
